Temporary Event Notices (TEN’s)

If you do not have a premises licence and are looking to authorise the retail sale of alcohol from your venue, provide regulated entertainment and/or late night refreshments then you can do this by applying for a Temporary Event Notice (TEN).

You can also use TENs to apply for licensable activities and/or extended hours which are not covered on your existing licence (for example, to open for longer hours to watch boxing from Las Vegas).

Licensable activities can include the following:

  • Retail sale of alcohol
  • Indoor sporting events
  • Film exhibition
  • Boxing or wrestling entertainment
  • Live music
  • Playing of recorded music
  • Performance of a play
  • Entertainment that is of a similar description to live music, the playing of recorded music and dancing
  • The provision of late night refreshment to include hot food / drinks served between 11pm and 5am
  • Or the extension of existing licensed hours.

What does the process comprise of?

JSH Solutions will complete all the applicable application forms and submit these on your behalf to your local council. We also pay the fee to the local authority where the event is being hosted.

We can advise how many TENs you are permitted to apply for, the notice period required and the duration of these for your venue on request (there are restrictions you will need to be aware of). We will liaise with and send a copy of your application to the Police, Environmental Health and the Home Office.
